The Summer Series: Summer Ombre/Gradient Nails

Hello everyone! This is my second installment for "The Summer Series" and today I wanted to share with you this bright, fun and funky ombre/gradient nail art tutorial perfect for summer.

You may have seen these a couple of times from various bloggers/youtubers but I would like to share with you my take on this gorgeous nail art.

Here are the things that you need:

  • A base color, white or skintone color (Optional)
  • 2 bright colored polishes
  • Top coat.
  • Cosmetic wedge sponges (or any sponge available)
  • Cotton tip applicator and nail polish remover

Here are the steps:

1. Apply a base coat to protect your natural nails. Next, apply one coat of your white or skintone colored polish. This will act as your base color and will make your bright colored polishes pop even more. Let it dry.

I am using here my Tribal Nail Polish in M925 (₱120).

2. Once your base color is dry, take your damped sponge and line it with your two bright colored polishes. A damped sponge will absorb less product. Make sure that the colors meet in the middle.

I am using here my Shisem Nail Color in M58 and 64 (₱29/each).

3. Let the sponge absorb the polishes a little bit, then start dabbing the color onto your nails. My tip is to quickly work on dabbing the sponge onto your nails. I dabbed the sponge onto my nails a couple of times to achieve the opacity that I want. Repeat this step until you ave coated all of your nails. You may need to reapply the polishes for each nail.
4. Take out your cotton tip applicator and dip it into your nail polish remover then start cleaning off the sides of the nails.

5. Last but not the least, finish it off with a top coat to seal in your design. The amount of top coat depends on how smooth you wanted your polish to be.

Here is the finished look:

You can definitely play around with different color combinations for this nail art. I hope you guys enjoy and share your recreations with me on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. :)

I don't think so dear, unless the sponge that you have is the one for two way cakes. :)
