The Liebster Blog Award [UPDATED]

Hello Pinay Beauties! I hope everyone is safe despite this rainy weather that we are currently experiencing. Anyway, today I just wanted to share with you this nomination that I got from Kaye of Blog To Express and I am super grateful to be nominated. Anyhow, this is The Liebster Blog Award.

I am really not sure how this started, but basically this award is for blogs that have under 200 followers so that you may get to know the bloggers a little bit more and gain new readers. Here are the rules:

  1. You must link back to the person who nominated you.
  2. You must answer the 10 Liebster questions given to you by the nominee before you.
  3. You must pick 10 bloggers to be nominated for the award with under 200 followers .
  4. You must come up with 10 questions for your nominees to answer.
  5. You must go to their blogs and notify your nominees.

Answers to Kaye's Questions

Why did you start a blog?

I have been a makeup enthusiast for a while now, and for some time I have been addicted to Youtube videos and beauty blogs, but somehow I cannot find enough reviews for people like me who has problematic (oily, acneic, rough) skin, especially reviews featuring our local makeup products. It inspired me to create this blog, aptly named "Pinay Beauty In A Budget", not to gain fame or money or free makeup stuff, but really to help other makeup enthusiasts like me who does not have thousands of pesos to burn for makeup.

Every lady has her favorite lipstick. What's yours?

This was actually hard for me to answer, but I think my prized possession lipstick is my MAC Pro Longwear Lipcreme in Unlimited. It is my first MAC lipstick, and the color just suits me really well. I also love that it is semi-matte, and leaves a bit of a stain on my lips. I am an avid lipstick user, and I wanted something that is long lasting and doesn't require to reapply a lot of times.

Do you have any beauty secret, or beauty routine? If so, what are they?

To be honest, I am still struggling with my acne and large pores, so I am not sure if I really do have a beauty secret. Maybe a tip that I can share is to never, ever, ever forget to remove your makeup and fully cleanse your face especially if you wore makeup the whole day. This is really, really important. For my beauty routine currently, I am using Be Organic Baby Olive Oil Soap to wash my face and apply Absynthe's Pure Intention Serum after. Will give you an update if it does work for me.

How long have you been blogging?

I just started this year, January 2013 so I have been blogging for 6 months, and so far, it is a roller coaster ride but I love it. I consider this blog as my baby and I am hoping for more success.

What are your top 3 drugstore makeup finds?

This is a bit hard for me since I love drugstore makeup, but I would just base this from products that I would repurchase in case I ran out of them: Careline Oil Control Blush in Fresh Tomato, Fashion 21 Pink Obsession Lipstick in Dream Girl and Nichido Minerals Spot Concealer in Neutral.

Can you go out of the house without makeup?

I can, but I prefer not to. If I am going out, I need to at least put foundation/BB cream, powder, blush, eyebrows, mascara and a lip balm/tint. It makes me feel better and it makes me more confident .

How often do you update your blog?

It really depends, especially this past few weeks that I am super busy. I try to post at least 10 blogs per month, but I really don't follow a schedule which I am contemplating now because I think I need to prioritize things and set a schedule for blogging.

What is your most trusted makeup brand?

Another tough question to answer, but judging from my collection, most of them are from NYX but for face products its Revlon. I am really not sure how to answer this, but I tend to try things from different brands especially that I blog and I do not have a go-to brand, hopefully I can find it though.

How often do you wear makeup?

I usually wear makeup when I go out, which would be once or twice a week, sometimes less. I also wear makeup at home when I do a review for a certain product, especially if it's a face product but I try to minimize the time that I am wearing one since it is not good for the skin.

In your opinion, what is the most necessary product that you use frequently?

I am assuming that these are makeup/beauty products, so my answer would be lipbalm and cold cream/makeup remover. These are things that I cannot really overlook and something that I cannot run out of.

Answers to Rhain's Questions

Favorite book to read?

I don't have a particular book that I could call my favorite, but I love reading fiction books, like crime-solving, thrillers, etc.

Do you watch Koreanovelas? If so, what's your favorite?

Yes I do, and I am actually into K-Pop (yes, I am not ashamed). I like Korean dramas that are romantic-comedy in genre. I am currently watching Full House Take 2 and so far I like it.

Skincare routine?

As I have said, I have not found a routine that actually solved my skin problems. But currently, I am using Be Organic Baby Olive Oil Soap and Absynthe's Pure Intention Serum. I hope it works though.

Food you can’t live without?

This is easy, CHICKEN! Regardless of what kind of dish, I cannot imagine the word without chicken.

Double Dutch or Rocky Road?

Both! I love sweets, and I love ice cream! I actually love all the flavors of ice cream, except the ones with wasabi and chili on it, I didn't like it one bit.

Birth month?

September, and my zodiac sign is Virgo.

Bad habits you want to change?

That would be procrastination. I tend to go with "the bahala na" attitude and I wanted to change it. I know that I thrive under pressure, but it doesn't mean that its a good habit. That is why I try to be organize and set everything on a schedule and most importantly follow that schedule so that I can be more productive.

Coffee or Tea?

I am a coffee addict. I think I drink more than 750 ml of coffee in a day. Yes, I love milk tea but I cannot live without my coffee.

Favorite Hollywood star?

This is hard, because I have a lot, but I have a huge, huge, huge crush on Ryan Reynolds.

What do you prefer straight hair or curly?

I haven't tried to curl my hair before, and right now I have short hair that I cannot curl. But my answer would still be curly hair, but not the curly, curly ones, more like a sexy wavy kind of beach hair.

Are you contented with what you had now?

If there is one thing that I learned in this so called life, that would be to be happy with what you have, and work hard for what you want to have. Yes I am contented but that doesn't mean that I am not dreaming for more. I know in time I would get whatever it is I dream of, but I need to work hard in order for me to achieve it.

Answers to Rattus' Questions

What inspired you to start blogging?

I already answered this above, but my answer is to help other makeup enthusiasts like me who is suffering from oily, acneic skin who is in a budget and cannot afford high-end makeup products.

What camera do you use and any tips for crisp clear shots?

I use the Sony Cybershot DCS-W290 and I am actually looking for more ways to take better photos. My tips would be white background (so that the product and the colors stand out), good lighting (I use natural sunlight especially in the afternoon, but I will create my own DIY photobox very soon and will share it with you guys) and steady hands (I am planning to buy a tripod).

What is your advice to new bloggers?

My advice would be patience and dedication. If you have the passion to blog, and we are not just talking about makeup but travel, food, etc. share your passion and do not mind the competition. Also, always stay humble and share your blessings. And do not forget to be honest, you build your reputation and you gain people's trust on how honest you are with your reviews/opinions/comments. Do not be afraid to express yourself.

What makeup products are you willing to splurge on?

This is easy, face products such as primer, foundation, concealer, setting powder and setting spray and of course tools like brushes, sponges, etc.

What makeup products would you rather not spend so much on?

My answer for this would be eyeshadows. I would rather not spend tons of money on eyeshadows because  these are something that you can play around with and do without.

A lot of us can live without specific beauty products. What product do you suggest that we do not skip and why?

I will never ever skip primer because it makes the makeup long lasting, foundation because it is important to create a flawless base and eyebrows because the brows frames the face and your look will dramatically by just sporting the right brows for your face shape.

Let's say I am a newbie to makeup and virtually know nothing about it. What are your shopping tips when buying makeup if I'm only willing to spend 500 pesos? Specific items, brands, products, why?

I actually created a post for this called "Build Your Own Starter Makeup Kit for ₱500 Or Less" where I discussed the essential makeup products that you need as well as product suggestions.

What is your skin type and the problems you had to deal with in association with it?

I have oily, acneic skin and I have large pores too. My skin is super problematic, because my makeup tends to slip after a few hours, it is hard to conceal my blemishes and without the proper base my pores looks really large and tends to get clogged too.

Are there any changes in your beauty preferences since you began your journey?

Before, I was super attracted with dramatic looks but as I grew older and I learn more about makeup, I began to love the natural look. Less is more. I prefer now a simple makeup look, although I still sport dramatic looks and bold lips from time to time, depending on my mood.

BONUS: Tell us anything you want. :)

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of my supporters. To all sponsors who believes in me, thank you so much for the trust. To all my fellow bloggers who showed their support and love, thank you so much and I will also continue to support each and one of you. And especially to my readers, who continue to trust and believe in me, I thank you from the bottom of my heart and I appreciate all of your lovely comments, requests, suggestions, etc. Thank you so much for believing in me guys, I will do my best to not fail you. :)
