Crazy Over BB Creams: Encara BB Cream

Hello Pinay Beauties and TGIF! It's been awhile since I wrote the first post of this series, and I apologize for that. Anyway, here is my second installment for the "Crazy Over BB Creams" series, read more and check out what I think about the Encara BB Cream.

I have been hearing a lot of good things about this BB Cream so I was super excited to finally try it.

Product Description and Direction:

Let's talk about packaging. It comes in a black squeezable tube with a nozzle (again, yes). I am really not comfortable with nozzles but, I guess I have to be since most BB creams comes in packaging like this. I love that the packaging is just black, it looks elegant.

Of course, when you open it you'll see that it is still sealed, which is really important.

What I love most about this BB Cream is that it is yellow-toned, perfect for us Filipinas. Most of the BB creams have a pinkish or grayish tone, which can make our faces appear super white. Here are some swatches at the back of my hand:

Another thing I love about it is the smell! It smells so good, my partner said it smells like the Banana Republic perfume.

Now let me tell you my experience when I applied it to my face. This BB cream blends so easily, and it feels so soft and light on the skin. Coverage wise, 1 layer is not enough to cover my face, so I have to put another layer. Here's what it looks like:

There's not much of a difference when I put 1 layer into my face, the redness subsided a little but you can see that my skin color was evened out perfectly. Applying the second layer covered most if not all of my blemishes, some are still peeking through which is makes it look like your own skin. It has a dewy-matte finish as well.

One thing that I noticed though with this BB Cream is upon application, it feel like it's just sitting on top of your skin, so you will have to let it set on your skin for a few minutes. Here's how it looks like after 3 minutes or so:

As you can see, it looks great with flash, it does give a bit of a white cast but not as much. This BB Cream photographs really well.

I was not able to take a photo of my face after 2 hours, but let me tell you, my face was super shiny and when I touched it, I feel oily. Here is the result of the blotting paper test:

I only blotted my nose area and here's what I saw, lots of oil. A setting powder is definitely a must in this BB Cream, and blotting a few times a day may be necessary too.

What I like about this product:

  • Packaging looks classy and easy to travel with.
  • Easy to blend.
  • Yellow undertone, suitable for most Filipinas.
  • Has SPF 25.
  • Smells really nice.
  • Good coverage, was able to conceal most of my blemishes.
  • Staying power is good, was able to last up to 5 hours.
  • Evens out skin tone.
  • Makes skin look health and bright.
  • Does not emphasize dry areas on the face.
  • Very hydrating and moisturizing.
  • Very photo friendly.

What I didn't like about this product:
  • The nozzle tends to be a bit messy.
  • Oil control is so-so, makes my face appear and feel oily.
  • Not locally available, may be purchased online.
  • A little bit pricey, original price is ₱999.00 but promo price is ₱499.00 for 50 g of product.

My rating:

Although I do not wear this alone when I go out, I still love this BB Cream and I still use it mixed with a matte finish foundation. The smell is just divine for me and the skincare properties of this BB Cream is superb.
