Review and Swatches: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream

Hello Pinay Beauties! How is everyone? Today I am going to review one of the best affordable lip products (at least for me). They are the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream.
Packaging wise, this is made of plastic but I love the matte finish on the cap of the lip cream. I also like that it is travel friendly and can easily fit my pocket for instant retouches.

I got three shades of this lip cream. I actually got it as a set from Chic Cosmetics Manila for ₱700 only instead of the ₱280/piece. It is also different from the NYX Give A Little Love Set (please see link for reference, photo grabbed from Yettezkie's Doodles). Before, Chic Cosmetics sells 3 different sets of these but they do not offer it anymore. I guess I am lucky to be able to get one when it was on sale.
Obviously, these babies comes with a doe foot applicator. It is not the most hygienic applicator there is, but you just have to make sure that your lips are clean before applying this or apply some product at the back of your hand and use a lip brush for more precise application too.

Here are some swatches:
[L-R] San Paulo, Sydney and Monte Carlo

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in San Paulo
This, for me, is a MLBB shade. It adds a bit of color without being too overboard, so its perfect if I wanted my makeup to look natural.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Sydney
This is one of the newest shade from this line. This shade actually reminds me of the Wet N' Wild Megalast Lipstick in Dollhouse Pink but definitely much lighter. It kind of makes my lips look washed out, but putting it on top with other lip colors does the trick for me. I just apply a small amount to balance out the colors and to mattify the look.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Monte Carlo
This is my go-to red lip color. What I love about it is that it suits all skin types. This looks brighter on me since I have fair to medium skintone but for those with darker skintones this lippie seems to adapt and looks darker too. Application is a bit tricky because it is such a strong lip color so I really suggest using a lip brush instead of the doe foot applicator (which I used on the photo above so sorry for the messy application).

What I like about this product:

    • Affordable for ₱280 each.
    • Wide range of shades available.
    • Readily available, both online and in NYX stores (SM North, SM Fairview, SM Aura).
    • Color payoff is great, very pigmented.
    • Semi matte to matte finish.
    • Glides on smoothly and creamy, dries up to a matte finish.
    • Scent (sweet vanilla chocolate scent, I actually wanted to eat it)
    • Packaging is travel friendly.
    • Staying power is good too, lasted me for 4 hours and leaves a bit of a stain in the lips (at least for Monte Carlo).

What I didn't like about this product:
    • Doe foot applicator (not hygienic and makes application of the bright shades a bit difficult)
    • Can be a tad bit drying, need to moisturize lips before application.
    • The lighter shades tends to not last as long as the darker shades.

Overall, I am inlove with this product! It is lightweight, easy to use and the shades are just amazing. I am a sucker for matte lipsticks so this is a go-to product for me. I would definitely want to get more shades of this but for now, I am happy with Monte Carlo. I will definitely repurchase if I ran out of it.

Thank you so much for reading. Please do not hesitate to share your thoughts or any other requests by posting a comment below. Let me know. :)

Stay awesome Pinay Beauties, and goodluck!

i have also recently bought NYX SMLC online (at 270 each). i have Monte Carlo, Milan, San Paolo and Antwerp . the first two i have tried and loved, the second two i am yet to try (don't want to open them yet because i have a lot of lip products to "consume"). yes you are right about them tend to dry up so i put lip balm first before applying the SMLC.
would love to see a Halloween video tutorial. ;-)

San Paulo looks so pretty. I like how they look on your lips. Too bad they're drying, I could never try them out, I easily get chapped lips.
Anyway, I would love to read a blog tutorial. :)

San Paulo looks veru flattering on you. Sayang di maganda yung formula. Gusto ko sana yung color. Hope they had a tube lipstick type that's the same color as that.

Going back to this post. Coz I recently got the Jazzy Kiss Proof Lip Gloss which is not really gloss coz it dries up like this.
