Review and Swatches: Naturactor Cover Face

Hello lovelies! How are you doing today? I know I have mentioned this in a blogpost before and that a lot of you are actually looking forward to hear my thoughts about this product, so without any further ado, here is my review of the coveted Naturactor Cover Face.
Naturactor Cover Face is the next "it" thing in the Philippine makeup industry because of amazing and flawless coverage. These concealers/foundation were raved and tagged as holy grail of a lot of makeup artists, celebrities and beauty enthusiasts alike. This is from the Japanese brand Meiko Cosmetics.

I have read a lot of reviews about this concealer and how people with blemishes (like me) use this as a full coverage foundation. I was blessed when Pretty Angel Shoppe decided to send me one for review and a friend of mine gave me one as a gift.

Let's get down to the nitty gritty shall we? Here are the things that I found out during my research.

Product Description:
Provides great coverage for skin. It's long lasting and you only need to apply a little to get the perfect skin look. For all skin types. Fragrance free. Special to make up artis and professional use.

Jojoba Oil - effective for treating dry skin or helping to create a more youthful appearance for people with ageing skin. Also used for acne treatment.
Mica - offers a sheer look and feel to the skin that it is long lasting.
Tocopherol (Vitamin E) - an antioxidant that protects and repairs your skin.

130 - Light color, makes pale or dull skin have a rosy effect and look more youthful. Suitable for very fair skin tone. Delicate, especially for bridal make up. For MAC NC 15-20 users. Has pink undertone.
140 - Light in color but slightly deeper than the 130. Suitable for fair skin tone. For MAC NC 25, 30 and 35 users. Has yellow undertone.
141 - Medium color and a natural skin color fit yet has translucent effect. Suitable for fair skin tone as shading. Suitable for stage/studio makeup. Suitable for medium skin tone. For MAC NC 40-42 users. Has pink undertone.
151 - Good coverage for face defects and shading. Suitable for malay skin tone. For MAC NC 45 users. Has yellow undertone.
171 - Green neutralizes any redness on your face, from broken blood vessels, blemishes, irritation etc. It helps inhibit red complexion and effectively covers the red spots left by acne.

How To Apply:
1. You can use fingers, triangle sponge or flat foundation brush to apply.
2. Ensure that your skin is dry before application.
3. Apply the cream foundation evenly on your skin. Take small amounts each time and do not over apply.
4. Start off with the jaw line area and near the ears (in a downward motion) then on the forehead, nose area, the chin and the neck area.
5. After applying, blend it in nicely all over the face making sure it is spread evenly all over.

Now let's move on to my personal thoughts about this product and let's start with packaging. I really thought that it was bigger than it's size because of photos that I see on the reviews but it is actually a small jar containing 20 g of product which is not bad at all. It comes in a white glossy jar with a screw top.
See how small that is? It is actually quite compact and very handy. The thing I don't like about the packaging is that when I get some product out of it, it tends to smear to the edges of the container and it gets a bit messy.

The shades that I have are 141 and 151. Following the shade matrix above, since I am between NC 25 and 30, my shade should be 141.
On the container, it seems that 141 is my shade and 151 is a bit too dark and intimidating, but once swatched, you will see a big difference:
As you can see, 141 has a pink undertone while 151 has a yellow undertone and it became lighter than when it was in the container. When I applied shade 141, it was too light for me because it is not my correct undertone. I ended up using 151, and although it is still lighter (yes, you will see what I mean on the photos below), it works perfectly with my warm undertone.

The explanation behind this is that these are very pigmented and concentrated so the colors appear darker, but since you only need a little to cover your spots or blemishes, the color significantly lightens. It is a bit tricky to choose your shade when purchasing online, and sometimes packaging can be super deceiving. So here are my recommendations:

- If you have NC 25-35 skin with yellow undertone, I would recommend using 151.
- If you are NC 15-20 with yellow undertone, use shade 140. If you have pink undertone, you can use 141.
- If you are darker than NC 35, say NC 40-45, you can use 151 but use a darker setting powder or bronzer to balance it out.

Let's move on the consistency of this product. As I have mentioned earlier, it is very thick and creamy. A little goes a long way, but it glides on smoothly onto the skin. It also has a very smooth and velvety finish to the skin, it almost feels like your own skin, but smoother and powdery. When I started using this, I experienced cakiness to the nth level, I am not gonna lie, but I think it is more of how I applied it rather than the product itself.

It took me a while to post this review because I wanted to let you guys know what I really thought about it and how to apply it effectively. I found out that the best way to use this is by a damp wedge sponge, especially if you have troubled skin like me. I first make sure that my face is properly moisturized, and I wait for about 5 minutes for the moisturizer to really sink in. I also use a primer, but this is optional. I then take my damp sponge, dab it into the product and start pressing it into my skin ever so lightly. Once applied and blended out I also use my fingers and smooth out everything, making sure that the application is even.

Now I am sure all of you are curious about the coverage of this product. Here's what it looks like before, with 1 layer then 2 layers:
As you can see, my face is breaking out right now and I am not sure why, I guess I need to change my skincare routine. Anyway, first layer and it was able to cover most of my imperfections. By the time that I applied the second layer, my face is very flawless looking. You can really see how effective is the coverage.
Amazing, isn't it? As you can see, I am using shade 151 but it still looks lighter on my skin. I also found out that in flash photography, it leaves a white cast so you have to be careful and blend it all the way down to your neck. Personally, especially when I need to take lots of photographs, I use this as a concealer and just on the areas where I need it (which is basically my entire face) then I use a small layer of foundation on top to even it out and to make sure that my face is not too white for the camera.

Oil control and longevity wise, I think its okay. I always set it with my Ben Nye Neutral Set and I use a setting spray, but it oils up after 3 hours and it is not long lasting like my Revlon Colorstay or Covergirl Outlast foundations. I advise using blotting sheets instead of powder, so you do not pile up a lot of products on top of it.

What I like about this product:
- Good coverage.
- Small and compact packaging, very handy and perfect for travelling.
- Glides on smoothly on the skin.
- Smooth and almost powdery finish.
- Scent, it is not fragrance free as the product claims but almost undetectable.
- Price is justifiable, ₱650 for 20 g of product.
- May only be available online, but there are a lot of online shops carrying it.

What I didn't like about this product:
- Tends to get cakey if you use too much or if face is not properly moisturized.
- Shade selection.
- Leaves white cast with flash photography.
- Oils up after 3 hours (at least for me).

Overall, I love this concealer/foundation but this is something that I do not use everyday, since it is thick it might clog my pores. I cannot really say that this has or hasn't break me out since I am not really sure why my face is breaking out (take note: I do not wear makeup everyday, if I do I make sure that I do not wear it for more than 6 hours and I do all necessary steps to make sure that my face is makeup free after).

And that is it for my review of the Naturactor Cover Face. Have you tried it? Share your experience or why you would love to try this in the comments below.

Also, how do you like my new watermark? I found a free website where I can put text or image watermark on the photos and I am currently loving it. It is a bit tedious but it makes sure that my photos don't get used by other people. Plus, since I changed my blog layout, I am going back to my older posts and fixing the spacing, etc. I felt like I neglected my blog for a few months, and now I have the time to fix it. :)

Anyway, thank you so much for reading and I really hope that this helps. Goodluck!

Wow! That is some amazing coverage!! I think this would still be too light for me, though. I agree with the other comments. This might work better as a concealer for me. Thanks for the in depth review and photos, though <3
