Review and Swatches: Octard Cover Foundation

Hello everyone! Today I have a review for you about a foundation that has been talked about when the Naturactor Cover Face became popular here in our country and it is the Octard Cover Foundation.
I have seen this product before and I was really curious on the difference between this and Naturactor. Both are from Meiko Cosmetics which is a Japanese company, so its really hard not to compare both products. Anyway, if you haven't seen my review of the Naturactor Cover Face, click here to read it.

Product Information:
- Cover spots, blemishes, and dull skin.
- Ingredients: Mica, Tocopherol antioxidant, Hyaluronic acid, Royal jelly extract and Honey.
- Matte finish.
- Fragrance-free.
- Size: 20g

- Made in Japan

S31 - Pinky and suitable for very fair skin (Chinese-like skin)
S41 - Brownish and a bit pinky, for very fair Malay skin
S51 - Dark pinky, suitable for Malay skin
S52 - More brownish, suitable for Indian skin
S71 - Yellow base to cover dark circles and fine lines/wrinkles

Here are my personal thoughts and recommendations on the shades (all referencing to MAC shades):

S31 - Palest of the pale, will work if you are MAC NC/NW10.
S41 - Will match MAC NC15.
S51 - Since this is lighter than my skintone and it has a yellow undertone, this is for people with NC20 skintone.
S52 - It is darker than Naturactor 151 which suits NC30-NC35, so this may work for people with NC37-NC45 skintone.

Shirleen of Pretty Angel Shoppe was kind enough to send me this product so I can test it out, and she actually sent me two:
She let me chose which shade would  match me better, and I chose S51 because I read Kikay Si Maria's review of the Octard foundation and she mentioned that S52 is a little bit dark compared to 151. Upon swatching S51 and 151 side by side though, S51 is lighter.
Initially, I am already worried because I know how pigmented these concealer/foundations are, and I know that it will still go much lighter when applied to the face. 151 is still light on my skin, and S51 is just way too light.

Let's talk about the product's consistency. I really like how the Octard applied to my face. It's actually like a creamy mousee formula, and it applies super smoothly on the face. It feels really light and on my oily skin it sets pretty fast, so you might need to work a bit faster. I don't have any issues with it though.

And now here is the part you are all waiting: the coverage. Here's what it looks like on me:
Coverage wise, it works the same as the Naturactor Cover Face. One layer and it was able to cover most of my blemishes, and with 2 layers it's full coverage.

Same as the Naturactor, it also creates a white cast on the skin, and that would be because this has SPF on it. However, testing the longevity and oil control, I find that this is so much better in controlling my oiliness. Since it is matte, it really held well on my face and I did not notice it being cakey, even with two layers on.

If you wanted to see a more in-depth comparison between this foundation and the Naturactor Cover Face, here is a comparison video review:

What I like about this product:
- Excellent coverage.
- Glides on smoothly on the skin.
- Silky, powdery finish.
- Good staying power for people with oily skin.
- Great product for its price, ₱700 for 20 g of product, but a little goes a long way.

What I didn't like about this product:
- Confusing shade selection.
- Leaves white cast with flash photography.
- Oils up after 3 hours (at least for me).
- Available online.

Overall, I am inlove and I prefer this over my Naturactor. Yes, the shade is too light but just like the Naturactor I am mainly using this as a concealer and I just put a darker shade of foundation on top so it balances it out. I have yet to try the yellow one as a brightener, but I will update you on that once I do!

If you are interested, please do check out Pretty Angel Shoppe. She sells both Naturactor and Octard and they are both authentic from Japan.

I hope you like this review guys! And please do not forget to check out the video as I get more technical with the differences between these two concealer/foundation. Thank you so much for stopping by, and I will see you guys on my next post! Goodluck!

I'm curious with S71 pero I'm not sure if it'll be worth buying just for the sake of curiousity. Pero parang ok sya as a highlighter.

Hello Yeye! Yes, it is washable by soap pero I always suggest to get an oil-based makeup remover, Ever Bilena has one that's like under 100 pesos. :)
