Review: Ever Bilena Advance BB Cream

Hello everyone! Happy February 1st! My blog is almost a month old now, so let's kick off this month by another review of the most raved Ever Bilena Advance BB Cream.
BB creams are originally from Korea, and this is actually acts as their foundation. It claims to have a lot of benefits for the skin, like an all-in-one skin care and makeup product. I was really intrigued when Ever Bilena launched their own BB cream. It claims to be a whitening and moisturizing foundation, and retails for 195. And I think this comes in 2 shades: Natural (which has anti-wrinkle properties) and Oriental (which claims to have whitening properties). The shade that I got here is Oriental.
As you can see, the BB cream is quite liquid-y. And the scent, it actually smells like Caladryl (the anti-itch lotion that was so popular back then). Also, the BB cream has a yellow undertone which will suit most of us Filipinas. Here are more swatches:
Left: Slightly blended
Right: Well blended

Upon blending this BB cream, I noticed that it was slightly sticky, I am not sure why. As you have noticed, the color is a tad bit darker than my color, so I asked my friend if I could swatch and test the product on her. (Thank you so much for being so supportive!) Here is a swatch on her hand:
Left: No BB cream
Right: With BB cream

Now let's put this BB cream to the test. I applied the BB cream using my Chic Flawless Blender Sponge.

Please note that my friend has normal skin type anda very, very sensitive skin. Here's her skin without any foundation/BB cream:

Pretty flawless huh? But as you may have noticed she has some spots as well as hyperpigmentation on the sides of her face. Let's see how this BB cream works. Here's her face after 2 layers of the Ever Bilena BB cream:
As you can see, the coverage is pretty amazing, and very buildable. The redness from the spot and the hyperpigmentation has been covered. I just had a hard time blending this foundation, I think it dries pretty quickly but thanks to my blender sponge I was able to apply it flawlessly.

It is now 2:56 in the afternoon, let's see how this BB cream holds up. I did not use any setting powder so we can see how long it will last.

Remember when I said that my friend has uber sensitive skin? We haven't hit the 1-hour mark but she is already complaining that it was kinda itchy. So I instantly took a photo of her face so she can wash it off: Time is 3:27 PM.
The coverage is still intact, considering that it's a hot day today (I think summer is here!). I asked her how the BB cream felt on her skin and she said it was sticky, just like when I first swatched it. She rinsed it off but said she feels like there's still product on her face, which just shows that this does not easily come off even if you sweat a lot.

What I like about this product:
- Locally available and affordable
- Medium coverage, very buildable
- Matte finish
- Staying power is quite good

What I didn't like about this product:
- The smell! Smells like Caladryl.
- The consistency and the texture, feels heavy when applied on skin and is sticky
- May not be suitable for people with sensitive skin
- Does not specify if it has SPF, although it claims it has whitening properties
- Stubborn to remove

When I read other reviews about this product, they say that it may not suit people with oily skin. I say, with a good setting powder this may actually work. I also read that this did not cause people breakouts, but since I feel that this BB cream is quite heavy on the skin and needs extra effort in removing this it might clogged the pores and cause acne breakouts.

There you go lovely ladies! Let me know if you have any questions, suggestions, etc. by leaving a comment below or through Facebook. Remember to always hold your head high, and smile. Smile is your best accessory. Goodluck!

  1. I hope there are more local good foundation and bb creams available. Have you tried 4u2 BB cream? can you make a review about it? Thanks.

  2. I've read reviews that some people actually broke out from this! And the product caked up and separated :( I have it too and I hate it for our climate. When I was in China it stayed really well and looked like skin but here it was just an absolute nightmare.
