Ellana Mineral Cosmetics Haul and Review + Swatches

Hello loves! I have been wanting to post this ever since I got these items but I only found time to do product shoots this week, so sorry about that! Anyhow, here is my review of some of the items that I have from Ellana Minerals.

Ellana has been around for 8 years now and is among the first mineral makeup brand here in the Philippines, but I never heard of them until they relaunched their brand. I know, I know, not sure where I've been that I haven't heard of the brand. To be honest, I never really learned about mineral makeup until I started blogging. They said that mineral makeup is best for people with sensitive skin as it is light and it lets the skin breathe. I've watched people achieve full coverage for their problematic skin by just using a mineral powder foundation, and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. That's what pushed me to try out Ellana Mineral Cosmetics.

I have a lot of items to share with you plus of course a makeup look at the end of the post, so let's get started! :)

20 ml - ₱220.00
This is the first Ellana product in my collection, which I got from my January-February BDJ Box. They describe this as a lip and cheek product that leaves a plummy stain, but it is actually an orange-red color. For swatches, please check out my unboxing post here.

As expected, the stain stays on all day on my cheeks, but you need to work quickly or else you will have patches of where it was sitting in. I prefer to pump it first on the back of my hand, and take a small stippling brush to apply on the cheeks. On the lips, for me it was barely visible and I have to build it up for me to achieve the opacity that I want.

9 g - ₱450.00
First of all, can we just admire the beautiful packaging? I think this is what attracted me to try out their products when they relaunched, the packaging is just too adorable! Anyway, I decided to get this one because I wanted to start bronzing and contouring my face, and I need a good matte bronzer shade. There are 5 shades available for their Blush Duo Compact, but I picked up Light Roast/Butter Rum Coffee.
I love this duo so much! That deep cool brown color is perfect for bronzing and adding color back to the face, and I also love the highlighter! Sorry if I wasn't able to show you a swatch with the highlighter blended out, but hopefully you can see that it has yellow/gold flecks on it, which looks super natural when the light hits it.

4 g - ₱350.00
This is another one of my favorite products from them. An eyebrow kit and eyeshadow quad in one, hell yeah! I checked back Ellana's website and I cannot find it there, so I am not sure if this is still available. If you happen to see this product, I highly recommend it.
It is your basic eyeshadow palette with matte shades that is perfect for everyday use! This can also easily take your look from day to night, and the palette is small so it is super travel friendly. I am also impressed of how long it stayed on my brows, and even without primer these shadows are super pigmented.

120 ml - ₱400.00
I included this bad boy in my March Favorites, and for a good reason. If you are someone who wears makeup every single day, you need to clean your brushes or else the product will just build up and your brush will not work as well. I dread it when I have to clean my brushes, but thanks to this brush cleaner, cleaning them became super convenient, plus they dry in no time! Here is a demo for you:
As you can see, it was able to remove all the dirt from my bronzer brush. :) I jut sprayed the brush twice, then swirl it on the tissue paper. Plus, the smell! It smells so sweet and refreshing.

What I also love about Ellana is that they offer free samples for their foundations, so you can check which shade suits you before purchasing the full size item. Cool right? I got 3 sample packs from them, 2 Warm Light Tones and 1 Warm Medium to Deep Tones.
The sample pack contains 5 samples inside, which is their Sheer Velvet Primer/Finishing Powder, 3 foundation shades and 1 finishing powder. I got my third sample on the BDJ Box Tres Chic Event and instead of a primer I got a sample of their Awake concealer.

Because I am a bit of OC, I had this impulse to transfer the powders in small containers, then I peeled off the stickers so I can stick them into the container. :)
Anyway, here are the swatches:
The main reason I got the samples because I wanted to convert to mineral foundation, because it is more skin friendly and powder products suit oily skin people more.

After serious swatching, I found out that my shade is Hazelnut Latte. It really blends on my skin really well. I love using this Moonkini Brush I got from Pretty Angel Shoppe for buffing in powder and it works well on this foundation. Here's what it looks like on my face:
As you can see, it wasn't really able to provide full coverage, but it was able to cover most of my redness and acne marks. It looks really natural and smooth though. I was reading their brochure and turns out they have 2 types of foundation: Perfect Blend which is suited for dry to combination skin with light to medium coverage, and Intensive Blend which suits oily skin with medium to full coverage. I think what I got is the Perfect Blend because of the light coverage.

Staying power wise, it lasts for about 4-5 hours on  my skin, but I think if you set it with a setting spray it will last longer. Oil control is so-so too, I noticed that I started to oil after 3 hours. I love that it does not look so powdery and that it didn't cake on me.

As promised, here is the look I created with the products above:
Sheer Velvet Mineral Powder
Hazelnut Latte Foundation
Awake Concealer
Amethyst Lip & Cheek Gel on the lips and cheeks
Light Roast as bronzer, Butter Rum Coffee as highlighter
Intense and Wish on the brows
Eyes: Hush all over the lids, Wish on the crease & lower lashline
and Intense on the outer v
Overall, I love the eyeshadow quad, the blush duo and I will definitely try the Hazelnut Latte "Intensive Blend" Foundation. As much as I wanted to get their pressed mineral foundation since its less messy, I need coverage for my problematic skin!

I know it's a long post, so thank you so much for reading guys! If you are interested in any of the products mentioned above, you can visit Ellana Minerals' website. I hope this has been helpful in any way.

Let me know if you have any questions on the comments below! Thank you, and goodluck!

I think you can get away with the pressed version, since you have good skin. As for me, I need coverage! :D

I have uber oily and acidic skin so I might get the Caramel instead of Macchiato. It is too hot to wear anything other than powder these days. But I was told that I should at least apply a make-up primer and sunblock. I need to some sample shades too.
